Brings back sweet memories of eating in Tuguegarao, Philippines (Peace Corps) - family I lived with (and the rest of the town it seems) used forks when I first arrived, but the utensils quickly disappeared once they saw I was more than comfortable eating with my fingers (as they were designed to do).
